UniJos VC Seat: NUC Interference, Conspiracy Theories and What’s Next?

In accordance with the provisions of section 4 of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act 2003 , the Governing Council of the University of Jos shortlisted eighteen professors who applied for the position.
Unfortunately, the Pro-Chancellor, Prince Tony Momoh died before the process could end. Following the alleged opposition by some members of the governing council as to the election process, the National Universities Commission (NUC) halted the process.
The NUC‘s decision was followed by protests by staff and students on the University’s campus. The NUC interference paved way for numerous conspiracy theories.
In this episode, we continued the conversation on the Post-Professor Maimako’s administration with a look at these conspiracy theories, the narratives that followed the protest amongst others.
