In October 2016, the Jos Bird Club was established as an initiative of the Nigerian Bird Atlas Project to promote citizen participation and engagement in nature appreciation and conservation through bird watching.
Over five years, this initiative has brought together bird watchers, nature enthusiasts and citizen scientists who visit interesting sites within the Jos Metropolis for birdwatching and nature walks.
In commemoration of their fifth anniversary, the Jos Bird Club members would be involved in street campaigns, birdwatching, radio programs, and a bird fair.
The bird fair is a one-day event that will focus on promoting the activities of the club and other environmentally oriented organizations and also develop the culture of birdwatching and nature among Nigerians, especially residents of Jos Metropolis.
More details to come.
